Child Center of Pennsylvania honors Brian Houchins Community Recognition Award

Brian Houchins of Mechanicsburg is named the recipient of the 2023 A Community Recognition Award.  This prestigious award is offered annually to an individual who has demonstrated distinctive dedication to improving the lives of kids in our neighborhood.

Brian Houchins, a dedicated elementary college teacher and community volunteer, has been an unwavering advocate for children's education and welfare.  Over the past ten years, his efforts have significantly impacted the lives of numerous children in Mechanicsburg and surrounding areas.  Houchins' initiatives embody establishing a free after-school tutoring program for underprivileged students, weekend workshops focusing on literacy and numeracy abilities for at-risk youth, and leading a profitable community-driven marketing campaign to upgrade native playgrounds, making certain safe and inclusive play spaces for all children.

The award ceremony might be held on January 15,at the beginning of JanuaryThe Mechanicsburg Community Center will host the awards ceremony on 15th January 2024.  The occasion will feature speeches from local dignitaries, a presentation about Houchins' contributions, and the award presentation.
